The full width of our backyard is a long flower that is bordered by a small brick wall It’s about one foot high. When the flowerbed was constructed my husband and I never thought the border would become a pathway for birds and small animals.
One time I saw a young crow walking on the wall. I guess he wasn’t paying attention because when the wall curved he continued to walk in a straight line and fell off. He landed in the flowerbed and after a few seconds his head popped up and he bounded back onto the wall. This time he watched where he was going and didn’t fall off. I still chuckle about this moment of joy when I was the only witness to this little delight.
Squirrels love dashing along the wall with a peanut sticking out of their mouth. These little creatures are very powerful and are always on the go. I know they hide peanuts in the grass and they’ve also hidden them in the flower pots. One time we were puzzled when we discovered dirt scattered on the patio, and then we realized the pot was another hideaway for peanuts.
The Wall
This is the wall. I’ve dubbed it the Reilly Racetrack or maybe I should say the Squirrels’ Racetrack.
I’d love to have you give me ideas for another title for this photo. Send your suggestions to me and I’ll pick one and post a different title.
